Why this is on the Manchester shortlist

Northern publishes a Piccadilly–Liverpool Lime Street route. Our suggested weekend uses Museum of Liverpool as the main city-history visit and Walker Art Gallery as a separate art option. Both have free general admission; paid exhibitions and events can be separate.

Choose the museum day deliberately

Museum of Liverpool is on the waterfront and has free general admission. Winter opening from 2 November is Tuesday–Sunday, 10:00–16:00, with Monday closure except school holidays. Holiday hours vary, so check your exact dates, especially if extending a Sunday stay into Monday. Some events cost extra.

A different focus at the Walker

Walker Art Gallery is on William Brown Street and offers free general admission, with special exhibitions and events potentially extra. Winter opening is Tuesday–Sunday, 10:00–16:00, subject to holiday variations. Treat it as an alternative main visit or a shorter second-day stop rather than rushing both venues on arrival day.

A closed-attraction correction

Maritime Museum and International Slavery Museum are closed for essential maintenance ahead of redevelopment, which is subject to funding. Leave both out of the itinerary and choose Museum of Liverpool or Walker Art Gallery instead.

A dock-area stay candidate

YHA Liverpool Albert Dock is in the Baltic Triangle near the waterfront, with shared beds, private rooms and private en-suite room types. Compare the exact unit for your party and map the property-to-station journey. Ask about access or room arrangements that are essential to your stay before booking.

Turn the shortlist into a weekend

The Liverpool two-day itinerary deliberately leaves an optional gallery visit on Sunday. Compare a day trip if the overnight would add little you want to use.
